I served with Derek, in the Regulating School in HMS Excellent, he was off to sea as a newly promoted Master at Arms, he was generous with his help to help me settle in as a new Instructor, like many who served with him I always found him to be a throughly nice chap and well respected amoungst those he served with. I was so pleased when he joined the Regulating Branch Association and I was able to once again be in contact with him. I hope his Crossing of the Bar was a calm one. RIP my friend.
